Afternoon at the Beach
I love painting but I also love photography and the combination of both seems to be the way to go, at least for me…
Some years ago, I visited Cefalu, Sicily, Italy, and enjoyed the afternoon at the Lungomare Beach with its unique little buildings directly facing the ocean. I do not even know how some of these residences still hold on giving the ocean activity and the salt in the air.
My first impetus was to paint this scene in watercolor but I decided to apply some Photoshop filters to the original picture so that I could get an idea of what I had in mind.
The first version was not very good because it was almost flat and lifeless. With some manual touches with a pen and a tablet, along with some enhancement in Camera Raw, I managed to get the above result. And I liked it!
Enjoy the waves!
