Winter Scene
I was not really confident about this panorama taken right after the snow stopped following. The temperature was relatively high (around zero degrees centigrade) which meant that I had to be careful with the falling snow from the trees (it would not be a great idea to be pointing the camera and then having a big blob of wet snow hitting it…).
The scene that I was seeing was quite big and required more than one picture to better describe it. I took nine pictures in sequence but some of them were not good enough so I joined the remaining six ones together to produce a panorama that did not have that “punch”. Something was missing and, for no reason in particular, I decided to apply a cartoonist overlay to it. It got a lot better!
I hope you enjoy the surreal Winter!

A couple of questions – what focal length and did you use Photoshop to create the cartoon, or a plugin?

05/03/2013 21:45Martin, thank you for your comment.
The focal length was 24mm (36mm equivalent) and I used Topaz Simplify to create a background cartoonish effect that was blended with the real picture in PS6.
While taking the picture, it was about to snow and I was crossing my fingers that it would happen to give that cool winter look. But, it didn’t…
I thought about adding some snow there but it would look quite artificial.
Cheers!
